The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don´t. (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; Band I)
The Guide says that there is an art to flying... or rather a knack. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself on the ground and miss. (Life, the Universe and everything; Band II)
It was called a Nutri-Matic Drinks Synthesizer... It claimed to produce the widest possible range of drinks personally matched to the tastes and metabolism of whoever cared to use it. When put to the test, however, it invariably produced a plastic cup filled with a liquid which was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea. (The Restaurant at the End of the Universe; Band III)
And as he drove on, the rainclouds dragged down the sky after him, for, though he did not know it, Rob McKenna was a Rain God. All he knew was that his working days were miserable and he had a succession of lousy holidays. (So long, and thanks for all the Fish; Band IV)
I know that astrology is not a science... it's just an arbitrary set of rules like chess or tennis or, what's that strange thing you British play? - Er, cricket? - Parliamentary democracy. The rules just kind of got there. They don't make any kind of sense except in terms of themselves... (Mostly harmless, Band V)
